EDWARD BARNES is the producer and/or composer of over 50 works of opera and musical theater.  For NYC's Collegiate Chorale, he recently produced the acclaimed concert version of Ricky Ian Gordon and Michael Korie's THE GRAPES OF WRATH, starring Jane Fonda, at Carnegie Hall in NYC.  In previous seasons with the Chorale, he produced the Kurt Weill-Ira Gershwin operetta THE FIREBRAND OF FLORENCE at Lincoln Center, Philip Glass' opera, THE JUNIPER TREE, at Jazz @ Lincoln Center, and A WHITE HOUSE CANTATA, a concert version of Leonard Bernstein and Alan Jay Lerner's 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE.  Other producing credits include THE BONES OF LOVE and OLD AUNT DINAH'S SURE GUIDE TO DREAMS & LUCKY NUMBERS for the Metro Ensemble in L.A., A CHRISTMAS CAROL, for Spoken Word America and Night Kitchen Radio Theater, PRESENTAMOS, at the Teatro Maipu in Buenos Aires, and MAS ALLA DEL TIEMPO, also in Buenos Aires.  An award-winning composer, his work has been seen at the Los Angeles Opera, Mark Taper Forum, Minnesota Opera, Seattle Opera, Opera Company of Boston, American Repertory Theater, Childrens Theater Company of Minneapolis, Prince Musical Theater, Lincoln Center Theater Company, and many more.  He is the winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship, NEA and NYFA Fellowships, and the Stephen Sondheim Award for the "creation of innovative musical theater".  He lives in New York City.
